Job 29 Bible text

WEB: 1WEB

Job again took up his parable, and said,

WEB: 2WEB

“Oh that I were as in the months of old,

WEB: 3WEB

when his lamp shone on my head,

WEB: 4WEB

as I was in my prime,

WEB: 5WEB

when the Almighty was yet with me,

WEB: 6WEB

when my steps were washed with butter,

WEB: 7WEB

when I went out to the city gate,

WEB: 8WEB

The young men saw me and hid themselves.

WEB: 9WEB

The princes refrained from talking,

WEB: 10WEB

The voice of the nobles was hushed,

WEB: 11WEB

WEB: 12WEB

because I delivered the poor who cried,

WEB: 13WEB

the blessing of him who was ready to perish came on me,

WEB: 14WEB

I put on righteousness, and it clothed me.

WEB: 15WEB

I was eyes to the blind,

WEB: 16WEB

I was a father to the needy.

WEB: 17WEB

I broke the jaws of the unrighteous

WEB: 18WEB

Then I said, ‘I will die in my own house,

WEB: 19WEB

My root is spread out to the waters.

WEB: 20WEB

My glory is fresh in me.

WEB: 21WEB

“Men listened to me, waited,

WEB: 22WEB

After my words they didn’t speak again.

WEB: 23WEB

They waited for me as for the rain.

WEB: 24WEB

I smiled on them when they had no confidence.

WEB: 25WEB

I chose out their way, and sat as chief.
