Matthew 6:19–21
“Don’t lay up treasures for yourselves on the earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consume, and where thieves don’t break through and steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Step 2 of 5 · Declare
I Will Invest My Heart Wisely
Read this slowly. Let each sentence remain anchored to today’s Scripture.
I will pay attention to what I treasure because it shapes my heart. I choose to invest my time, attention, and resources in what reflects God’s kingdom and love.
Step 3 of 5 · Meditate
Your Treasure Trains Your Heart
Jesus connects treasure and heart. What we continually value, protect, and pursue does more than reveal our priorities; it also shapes our loves.

In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus speaks about giving, prayer, fasting, possessions, anxiety, and trust. His words about treasure sit inside a larger call to live before the Father rather than for appearances or divided loyalty.
“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” We often think the heart comes first: care deeply, then invest. Jesus’ wording also suggests that what we treasure trains the heart.
Repeated investment forms affection. Time spent seeking admiration can make approval feel essential. Money spent only on ourselves can narrow generosity. Attention given constantly to comparison can reshape desire.
This does not mean earthly possessions have no value. Food, housing, savings, tools, and responsibilities matter. Jesus is asking about ultimate treasure—what we believe can hold our life securely and what commands our deepest loyalty.
Look at one concrete resource today: your time, spending, attention, or energy. What does its pattern suggest you treasure? Then make one small choice that points your heart toward what endures.
Step 4 of 5 · Pray
Pray in response
Father, show me what my patterns reveal about what I treasure. Keep possessions, approval, and comparison from becoming my deepest security. Teach me to use time, attention, and resources in ways that reflect love, generosity, and your kingdom. Reorder my heart through faithful choices. Amen.
Step 5 of 5 · Reflect
Reflect with honesty
What receives a large share of your time, money, or attention?
What does that pattern train you to value?
What one investment could point your heart toward something more lasting?
