Step 1 of 5 · Receive

Receive this day’s Word

Luke 11:9–10

“I tell you, keep asking, and it will be given you. Keep seeking, and you will find. Keep knocking, and it will be opened to you.

For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.

Step 2 of 5 · Declare

I Will Keep Coming to God in Prayer

Read this slowly. Let each sentence remain anchored to today’s Scripture.

I am invited to ask, seek, and knock. I will pray persistently without trying to control God, remaining open to his wisdom, timing, and faithful direction.

Step 3 of 5 · Meditate

Keep Asking, Seeking, and Knocking

Jesus encourages persistent prayer rooted in trust in the Father, not a technique for controlling outcomes.

Some prayers are answered quickly. Others are repeated through long seasons.

Jesus tells his disciples to ask, seek, and knock. The words describe active persistence. Prayer is not presented as a single attempt after which we assume God does not care.

The surrounding teaching matters. Jesus has just given a pattern of prayer centered on God’s name, kingdom, daily provision, forgiveness, and protection. He then speaks about persistence and about the goodness of the Father.

This passage should not be treated like a formula that guarantees every requested outcome. Scripture includes faithful people who waited, received a different answer, or continued through suffering. Persistent prayer is trustful relationship, not leverage.

Asking brings needs honestly before God. Seeking includes paying attention to his will and wisdom, not only our desired result. Knocking suggests continued approach rather than withdrawal.

Sometimes persistence changes circumstances. Sometimes it changes our understanding, exposes motives, deepens endurance, or leads us toward practical action and community support. We remain open to God’s answer rather than trying to force our own.

Consider a prayer you have stopped bringing because you feel discouraged, embarrassed, or unheard. You may bring it again. You can also ask God to reshape the request and show you what faithful action belongs alongside it.

Prayer is not proof that we control the door. It is confidence that we are invited to keep coming to the Father.

Step 4 of 5 · Pray

Pray in response

Father, thank you that I am invited to come to you.

I bring the request that has become difficult to repeat. You know my hope, my disappointment, and the outcome I desire.

Help me ask honestly, seek your wisdom, and remain faithful while I wait. Correct my motives where needed and show me any action I should take.

Keep me from treating prayer as a formula or withdrawing because the answer is not immediate.

Teach me persistent trust.

Amen.

Step 5 of 5 · Reflect

Reflect with honesty

  1. Which prayer have you avoided because you feel discouraged or unheard?

  2. How might you seek God’s wisdom, not only your preferred result?

  3. Is there a faithful action, conversation, or source of support that should accompany your continued prayer?
